North American Dipterists Society

Society Governance

The North American Dipterists Society governance structure is laid out in the Bylaws of the Society, with a Board of Directors consisting of up to fifteen (15) Directors, with the number to be fixed with these limits by approval of the Board. In addition, the Board elects at least the following Society Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. In 2021, the Officer position of Meeting Chairperson (who oversees the Society meetings as a whole) was added. Directors can concurrently be Officers, and currently all Directors hold Offices as well. Two auxilliary Officer positions were added by the Board in 2021 and 2022, respectively, the Field Meeting Chair and the General Meeting Chair. The Board also designates members for Executive and other committees, for various purposes as needed.

The current governance structure is made up of five Directors, each of whom is also a Society Officer, in addition to three auxilliary Officers. As the Society grows, so will the governance of the Society.
